Our History
Over 100 years ago, thirteen young Cleveland women met to form an organization that pioneered a new concept - community health nursing. In 1902, the Visiting Nurse Association of Cleveland was born.
The VNA grew and thrived and, by the late 1990’s, was providing expert home healthcare and hospice services to more than 12,000 families every year in nine counties in Northeast Ohio. In 1999, we expanded our service area to include 12 counties in Central Ohio – and the VNA of Mid-Ohio was born.
Today, we are the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio. With a staff of over 700 health care professionals, we serve 19 counties throughout Northeast and Central Ohio. While the range of our services has expanded and the size of our organization has grown, we remain committed to providing innovative, high-quality home healthcare to all people regardless of their ability to pay.
