Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio Raises $95,000 at 3rd Annual Rockin' for the Cause

Celebrating VNA of Ohio's Caregivers and Clients, Supporters Raised Funds to Support Home Health and Hospice Services in Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio (October 6, 2017) –Supporters of Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio (VNAO) raised $95,000 at VNAO's 3rd Annual Rockin’ for the Cause fundraising event last night, Thursday, October 5. Proceeds will support VNAO's home health and hospice services that help promote the independence and dignity of patients and families in Northeast Ohio.

Four years ago, VNAO Hospice took care of Samuel G. Lucarelli, founder of Minutemen Staffing services. Inspired by the generosity of VNAO's Hopsice staff, Lucarelli's children established Rockin’ for the Cause. At this year's event, his daughter, Symantha Bowen, shared that his caregivers treated him like he was their father. They gave him the dignity he deserved at the end of his life.

During the program, guests also watched a video that featured two home healthcare clients: Cynthia, who worked closely with members of the home healthcare team and Linda, who is supported by VNA of Ohio's hospice team of social workers and RNs. VNAO spotlighted their newly launched Ambulatory Withdrawal Management Program that works with clients after their initial detox period from opiates. Watch the videos here

Approximately 140 guests enjoyed appetizers from Spice Kitchen + Bar and one-of-a-kind cocktails from Happy Camper Bar Car at 78th Street Studios, located in Gordon Square. The building is home to local artists and a popular place to have weddings. Like VNA of Ohio, the building is 100+ years old and was previously home to American Greetings. Following the program, guests rocked out to Cleveland's Breakfast Club Band, recently voted the most requested 80s rock band in Cleveland.
