Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio and The Music Settlement Partner for Music Therapy Program

April 7, 2016 – Cleveland, Ohio – VNA of Ohio is pleased to announce its partnership with The Music Settlement to offer Music Therapy as an adjunct service for the organization’s patients in Northeast Ohio. VNA of Ohio provides high-quality home health and hospice care to promote health,
independence and dignity to those living in the community.

“Music Therapy is essential to enhance our adjunct therapy services, which also include massage and art therapy for hospice patients. Music Therapy is proven to minimize troublesome symptoms and promote quality of life, and now we are able to offer that added value for our patients,” states
Hospice Director, Linda Ambrose, RN.

Music Therapy utilizes music-based interventions to help individuals accomplish goals specific to their diagnosis, whether it be suppressing symptoms or overcoming a challenging stage in their recovery. The Music Settlement’s Board Certified Music Therapists will support VNA of Ohio patients during this
time.
The partnership between the two organizations, as well as the individual sessions, will continually be tailored to fit the needs of each patient. VNA of Ohio believes this partnership will be extremely beneficial as the organization strives to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Ronna Kaplan,
MA, MT-BC, Chair of The Music Settlement’s Center for Music Therapy, said, “Music therapy is a unique addition to the quality services already provided through VNA. Together I am certain that we will make a positive difference in the lives of patients, their families/caregivers, and VNA staff.”
