Four Outstanding Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio Employees Receive Special Recognition with Samuel G. Lucarelli Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (May 11, 2018) – Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio (VNA of Ohio) was proud to honor the four recipients of the Samuel G. Lucarelli Award at a small ceremony at VNA of Ohio headquarters. Twice a year, four staff members are nominated by their supervisors or someone who believes the individual represents the four traits for consideration: growth, innovation, quality and engagement. Established in 2015, the Award recognizes outstanding employees who embody the organization’s passionate and patient-focused mission.

The May 2018 winter winners included:

Dora Harper
Adrienne Gonzalez
Tracy Johnson
Janell Vincent

Dora Harper is the Special Services Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice. Always positive, thoughtful and caring, she comes in with a smile on her face. She has taken whatever position has been given to her and turns it into a learning experience and an opportunity to help VNA. Focusing on what is best for the patient, she searches for solutions, listens with sympathy and understanding and sets the tone for what the patient can expect from their caregivers.

Adrienne Gonzalez is the Assistant for Human Resources. She provides outstanding customer service to everyone she encounters – both internal staff and external vendors. An empathetic listener, she strives to make sure people have a good experience when they need HR services. Beyond her role in HR, she is always willing to support special projects such as the Rockin’ for the Cause fundraiser, the Patient Emergency Fund, VNA holiday parties and other events.

Tracy Johnson, RN, is a Med-Surg nurse on VNA of Ohio’s Mid-Ohio team. In everything she does, she is graceful and humble and makes her focus about the patients she serves. VNA has received countless compliments on her caring and compassionate ways with patients and families. As a coworker, she’s always willing to help by picking up extra visits, after-hour calls and covering for them when she can. She makes herself available for her peers anytime they need help with charting or any time they have questions. She has also been instrumental helping VNA of Mid-Ohio set up processes for Area Agency requirements.

Janell Vincent, RN, or “Nurse Jelly” is a dedicated member of the Med-Surg team at VNA of Ohio. She has a straight-forward manner and explains things very clearly and simply so her patients understand what needs to be done. On many occasions, she will call and “check-up” on her patients if they were having a bad day or if they went to the doctors, or having some type of crisis. Beyond caring for her patients, she also cares for new staff members and is the first one to call and introduce herself to a new employee. She organizes monthly “team meetings” where any staff member can go to get appetizers and drinks with their coworkers.
