April 12, 2010 Case Western Reserve University studies VNA Telecare The new study is an effort by CWRU researchers to find which patients benefit the most from VNA Telecare, a special telemonitoring service available to VNA patients that allows us to monitor and extend care beyond the regular home visit and find changes in the health condition before it might reach a critical stage. Hospice volunteer training begins Tuesday, February 23, and takes place every Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. through March 23 at the VNA of Ohio's downtown offices at 2500 East 22nd Street. December 10, 2009 CEO Claire Zangerle quoted in VNAA press release, "Nonprofit Home Health Providers Express Concerns in Health Reform Debate" In response to the Medicare home health cuts proposed in the Senate healthcare bill, Claire Zangerle said: "Thousands of people rely upon [the VNA of Ohio's] home visits for their care, from Cleveland's urban poor to seniors living in rural homes. We are deeply concerned that these cuts will prevent the VNA of Ohio from providing cost-effective and essential care to these needy populations, forcing them into more costly institutional care or to be readmitted into hospitals. If the ultimate goal is to improve Americans' access to healthcare while holding down costs, home healthcare services should be protected and adequately funded by our country's leadership." November 22, 2009 17th annual Light a Life Ceremony: A Holiday Remembrance Tradition Families, volunteers, and VNA of Ohio staff gathered on November 22 for Light A Life, a special event that combined creative expression, arts, music and remembrance to support anyone who may be grieving the loss of someone they love. It featured a sermon on love and loss by Rev. Gina Thornton of St. Paul AME Church, and musical accompaniment by violinist Obie Shelton and pianist Ryan Bergeron. November 13, 2009 Board member JoAnn Glick honored on National Philanthropy Day Each year on National Philanthropy Day, the Association of Fundraising Professionals recognizes outstanding individuals, organizations and foundations that support charitable giving and who change the world with a giving heart. The VNA of Ohio selected JoAnn Glick as its featured volunteer. She is a dedicated community volunteer who also chairs the Board's Development Committee, which supports the fundraising activities of the agency.
